Inspiration for that summer to fall transition

Unlike the transition from winter to spring which is exciting because it means warmer days are coming, the transition from summer to fall is a little sad and kinda clumsy. You have the cooler northern winds whipping in which freezes you white the summer sun still beats down strong meaning you could still get a sunburn. It’s awkward because it isn’t coat weather but it isn’t necessarily sandal whether, so what can you wear? I personally love the look of shorts with sweaters: it is fun, funky, and a great way to show off the remainder of your tan before winter paleness sets in. Here I’m wearing bright, white shorts with a fun cropped black sweater. It’s simple and functional and great for the transitional season between summer and fall.

What is your transition go to?

Foxy Originals Jewelry

I love jewelry. I don’t think anyone who reads this blog can dispute that. I also love supporting and promoting Canadian brands and companies, so when Foxy Originals got in touch with me I was ecstatic. They honestly make some of my favourite jewelry. Their whole collection is really upbeat, fun, and beautiful. They keep up with trends, but also create pieces that are unique to them.

I got to test out their Haven gold studs (they’re the ones that are diamond shape with white detailing) and also their Moon and Star studs in silver which really made my celestial dreams come true. These earrings are seriously DREAMY! And in keeping with my fave Jenner #SummerSurprises are yet to come! Check back later this week for a super fun surprise.

Are you loving Foxy Originals’ studs or what?! Let me know in the comments!

Home at last

After what seems like eons, I am finally home with my family. It’s not even that school or work are that stressful, but the more time I spend away from home the more I really crave being here. There’s nothing like having mom and dad cook for you and pamper you because you’re a “poor, hungry student”. Key to success guys, go home and get some parental love time.

The day I wore colour

It’s cold now, but there is still a little bit of sun which makes it feel a little bit warmer out whether it actually is or isn’t. Yesterday I had such a strong urge to wear my purple riding pants and an equally strong urge to wear my green turtleneck pullover, but I didn’t think about them together. Even my boyfriend noticed “wow you’re wearing a lot of colour today”.

It’s no surprise that I prefer dark shades of grey, beige, and black over most things, but something about yesterday’s sun made me want to dress like an inverted Iris.

One of my Go-To pieces

There’s nothing like a jacket that adds that extra something to your look. That one piece that gives you the air of effortless, but also makes your cool factor go up 10 points. For me this is my leather jacket. It’s not the most practical of jackets seeing as it is rather cropped in the back, but I kind of dig that. It’s got some really powerful lines coupled with gorgeous details on the shoulders. It’s really cool, let’s be real. And paired with a floral blouse and plain black jeans toughens up the feminine tones to my look.

Do wool coats mean it’s winter?

Verdict: Maybe.

Yesterday it snowed. Yup you read that right, snow: white, fluffy, evil snow. (Only evil because it’s October) I mean common nature, it’s been fall for a month and a half, and now you rip my sweaters away from me and thrust wool coats my way. It’s bitter sweet for me honestly because I do really love my wool coat, but it’s always a little lame when you have to bundle up because it’s freezing out. Oh well, Canada problems.

When I’m feeling a little chilly

When I’m feeling a little chilly I usually throw on a sweater. And after I’ve thrown on a sweater, I usually wear distressed jeans. Why? To counter balance the warmth, I guess. I am on the quest for the perfect ‘mom jean’ that isn’t so aggressively holey like these ones, but it is not an easy quest.

Let’s get serious, friends, It Is Cold. It may fool you this weekend with it’s sun and it’s above 15’C temperature, BUT DON’T BE NAIVE. The time is now to find your layers because it will only get colder. Winter is upon us, it is officially time to bundle up.

Welcome to fall

Remember when it was June? And you had that first really warm day and you thought “yeah, I could get used to this”. And then BAM it’s October? You read that right, it is October. Which means it is officially fall, which is just a long way of saying it is time to break out your cold weather uniform! There’s something magical about fall; the crispness in the air, the colours the leaves change, and everything is both beautiful and creepy. There’s also a not so magical side effect of being cold; having brain freeze, being too cold to think about what to do let alone what to wear. This is why I told you get your fall uniform ready. It’s a simple look that you can fall back on when it is too cold to think. Mine is this: Jeans of some sort, turtleneck, my dad’s jean jacket and a scarf.
